Dry Prairie Short

This mix should be planted in areas that receive direct sunlight for at least half the day. Many of these plants prefer sandy or rocky soils. At a minimum this species mix requires well drained soils. Unless irrigated, lawn grasses, most ornamental plants, and crops would be dormant for much of the growing season in soils suitable for dry prairies. In Agrecol’s Dry Short Grass Prairie dominant grasses are short (2-3 feet in average height) and the taller grasses and dominant wildflowers have been reduced or eliminated. Some of the flowers will be taller, up 4 feet tall or more, but walking and seeing through the area will be comfortable.
