Mesic Short
(STANDARD MIX) SM-MS
Soils that will support normal lawns or row crops would be appropriate for mesic prairies. Most common soil types in our area are mesic. As with all the prairie mixes several hours of direct sunlight is required. The dominant grasses in Agrecol’s Mesic Short Grass Prairie will be 2-4 feet in height and some of the wildflowers may be slightly taller. This prairie is adapted to the same conditions as the Agrecol’s Mesic Shortgrass Prairie but the taller species have been removed for landscaping or aesthetic purposes. Smaller stature species have been increased or added to compensate.
